Phils Show Their Attitude With One Play

werth.jpgIt was a simple play, but one that you wouldn’t expect in that situation. That’s what made it the perfect time to pull it off… A Steal Of Home With The Bases Loaded.

That is what Jayson Werth pulled off against Dodgers C Russell Martin. That’s right, this one was stolen off the catcher after a lob throw back to the pitcher.
It was one of four steals for Werth in the game, which tied a Phillies franchise record (Sherry Magee, Gary Maddox) as the Phillies beat the Dodgers by a 5-3 score.
The funny part about the whole night is that because of the struggles of Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino, the Phillies haven’t been a running ballclub. In fact, they had a total of 12 stolen bases on the season entering tonight.
Monday Musings…
– Chan Ho Park had his second straight good outing (6.0 IP, 2 R) for the win
– Rollins had an RBI single, batting from #5 spot in the order
– Brad Lidge had another shaky inning, giving up a run, but got his 5th save.
Tomorrow Night…
Jamie Moyer goes to the mound looking to turn things around against former Phillie Randy Wolf.
